China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 polish swatches

Hey Everyone!

Ohhhh boy do I have something fun to share today! The China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Collection! Wait a minute, isn’t it July? Why yes, yes it is lol I’ve actually had this collection for 2 months but just didn’t have time to swatch it, bad bad Angel. (I purchased these) I think we usually start to see swatches in August so yea to early even though Summer started about 5 mins ago. I’ve been on a real China Glaze kick and I’m a big fan of this collection, my type of colors. But surprisingly I think I like the duochromes and glitter the best! Shocking since crème is my fav finish. Ok let’s do this!

Ooooooooo, aaaaahhhhhhh! This collection consists of 6 cremes (one has shimmer), 3 duochromes, 2 shimmer metallics, and 1 glitter flakie.

Let’s start with the cremes. First up is ‘Change Your Altitude.’ To me it’s a grayed out lavender putty crème, I’m not exactly known for my descriptions lol It had a really nice formula, I wouldn’t call the cremes thick in this collection but medium thick if that’s a thing. This applied nicely and was pretty opaque on the first coat. Shown here with 2 coats and top coat.

Next is ‘My Lodge or Yours?’ A dusty mauve crème with a hint of rose. Another good crème formula that was very opaque on the first coat. Not unique but a pretty color and combined with the nice formula makes this a solid polish. Great for work! Shown here with 2 coats and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 S'More Fun

This is ‘S’More Fun.’ A pale yellow green crème that looks like a lime and an olive had a baby lol I love this color! The first coat was pretty sure so I was a little worried, but I applied a thicker second coat and it was completely opaque. This one had “the worst” formula of the cremes but it’s not bad at all just not the best in the collection. But I don’t really get the name? When I think of s’mores I’d imagine a marshmallow or chocolate color? Shown here with 2 coats and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Take A Hike

What’s Fall without hunter green polish? This is ‘Take A Hike.’ A hunter green crème that leans a little teal. This is a one-coater people! It had a good formula and applied easily. This is the type of crème I like wearing in the Fall. Shown here with 1 coat and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Sleeping Under The Stars

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Sleeping Under The Stars
This is ‘Sleeping Under The Stars.’ An indigo crème with pink/fuchsia micro shimmer. I wish I could have captured the shimmer better! It’s really beautiful in person, a subtle shimmer but you can definitely see it. This one is very opaque, I applied one coat that went on a touch thick, but it applied evenly so I didn’t mind. It was little hard to clean-up near the cuticles so it might be a possible stainer. I used a peel off base and only wore it for 10 mins so I’m not sure about it. It made me think of a much less shimmery Fantasy Fire without any green sort of shimmer shift. So basically not like Fantasy Fire lol Shown here with 1 coat and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Free Bear Hugs

Next is ‘Free Bear Hugs.’ A cocoa oxblood crème. When I was pulling the brush out of the bottle and wiping the polish on the neck of the bottle it looked like blood dripping down lol It’s a very rich color, not quite a crelly but just shy. Like most polishes this color it did want to flood my cuticles so polish carefully. But on the positive side it was opaque at 2 coats, I feel vampy colors like this have a tendency to pull and leave bald spots near the cuticle while putting on the second coat but not this one! It dried a little darker than in the bottle and will look black in some lighting. Even though it’s not unique I’m a fan and will be using this one come Fall. Shown here with 2 coats and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Check Out The Silver Fox

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Check Out The Silver Fox
This is ‘Check Out The Silver Fox.’ Anyone else picturing Anderson Cooper? Lol A silver gunmetal shimmery metallic. To me this formula isn’t a true metallic in the sense of brushstrokeyness (great made up word lol). I love these types of colors, it’s almost like the base is completely made up of just super super fine shimmer. It is very opaque! I did one medium thick coat and only had to touch up a couple spots that were a little sheer. Next time I’d probably do 2 thin coats just because I prefer the thickness of 2 coats on my nails. I like that this isn’t your typical bright silver, it’s darker and a little more sophisticated. Shown here with 1 coat and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Wood You Wanna?

Next is ‘Wood You Wanna?’ A taupe brown with little bit of a red tone, same shimmery metallic formula as ‘Check Out The Silver Fox.’ Very opaque! I only needed 1 coat and it applied nicely. I’m in love with this color! I wasn’t expecting much out of it but it surprised me, when I posted this pic to Instagram it got a big positive response. Shown here with 1 coat and top coat.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Gone Glamping

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Gone Glamping
Duochrome time! This is ‘Gone Glamping.’ The name! I don’t know what to call this, it’s a pewter bronze metallic that flashes sea green and blue. When I first saw this I of course though of Chanel Peridot and the plethora of dupes. It’s similar but I’d call ‘Gone Glamping’ it’s deeper moodier cousin lol I think the Peridot colors have more of a gold base while this is more bronze and not as much of a green flash. The first coat is very sheer so I needed 3 coats to reach full opacity, and I didn’t have to work that hard to minimize brush strokes. Most are probably sick of these type of colors but I only have a couple like it so I’m a fan! Shown here with 3 coats and top coat.  I angled my lights more than normal here to bring out the duochrome.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Cabin Fever

Next duochrome is ‘Cabin Fever.’ A cranberry duochrome that shifts to bronze copper and pink. Some of you will be bored with this but I just never really jumped on the duochrome bandwangon so this is my first polish this color and I’m in love! It had a nice formula and applied well with minimal brush strokes. This color is like Fall in a bottle, like turning leaves. When I held my hand out at arm’s length the cranberry turned to a glowing pink! Big fan of this one. Shown here with 2 coats and top coat.  I angled my lights more than normal here to bring out the duochrome.

China Glaze The Great Outdoors Fall 2015 Pondering

Last duochrome is ‘Pondering.’ A beautiful purple duocrhome that shifts to green and pink. In the bottle you can see more colors but I didn’t see all the colors once on the nail. It’s a very glowy color but the least duochrome of the 3 in this collection. But I’m not saying it’s not pretty! Very opaque and applied fine. It felt a little witchy and mysterious to me. Shown here with 2 coats and top coat.  I angled my lights more than normal here to bring out the duochrome.

And I saved my fav for last! This is ‘Let’s Dew It.’ A glitter flakie with silver and gunmental hex glitter, blue and pink micro glitter, and blue and pink mini flakies. I was NOT expecting to love this one as much as I do, I’m still wearing this right now! I layered one coat over black. One coat people! It applied really nicely with all the glitter and flakies spreading out evenly. On my Cindy hand I applied 2 coats over black and it looks nice, but I think I prefer the one coat vs. two. So much sparkle, so much pretty!

What are your favs? Do you like Fall colors? Do you even want to think about Fall yet? Lol Thanks for stopping by! -Angel
