Neon Chevron nails featuring Orly Passion Fruit and Key Lime Twist

Press Sample (Some of these items were provided for review and photography)

Hi!

You may see a lot neons from me now that it’s actually Summer in my neck of the woods, prepare yourselves. And I can never just seem to wear a plain neon, I always have to make it crazy and loud and a little obnoxious as if it wasn’t already lol I busted out an untried today, ‘Passion Fruit’ from Orly and paired it with another Orly ‘Key Lime Twist’ because ever since I used a while back it’s been sitting at my polish desk giving me puppy eyes and begging to be used! So I did and I still loves it. Check it out!

In the bottle ‘Passion Fruit’ is a red leaning pink but looks a little more pink on the nail, could be because I used a white undie. It applied easily and smoothly but I think next time I’d do 3 thin layers as opposed to 2 thicker, it looks fine but I think it might look a little nicer with 3 thin coats. It dried to a matte rubbery finish but I topped it with a glossy top coat.

Orly ‘Key Lime Twist’ is a prettyyyyyy great yellow green highlighter shade. It’s very bright but slightly washed out, I think because it has a white crème base as opposed to that weird sheerness most neons have. I did layer it over a white undie (‘White on White’ by China Glaze) BUT I think you could get away without it with this one. I’ll have to try it. It’s just a little thick but I don’t mind because it’s less sheer this way. Still digging it!

For the ring and pinky nails, like yesterday’s mani I recycled another swatch I was doing for Love Angeline Stuck on Love Nail Shields. I love how free-hand zig zags and chevrons look but I’m not that great at them so I used the vinyls like a template. After painting on the black (‘Liquid Leather’ by China Glaze) and removing the vinyl I freehanded the pink and yellow lines just following the pattern. I really like how it looks! And it was really easy to do.

Do you share my love for all things neon? I’m always a love of opposite things, I’m a HUGE neutral polish fan and then I love neon. I’m like that with everything when it comes to design lol Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Eeek! I love this nail art look! I'm really hit or miss with neons- some days I love them, and other days they are just too much for me. I definitely love neon nail art that breaks up the colours a little bit.

  6. I love the way the black makes the neon really pop and the neon makes the black stand out and help define the design.

  7. This is one of those manis you should never take off! It looks like it was made for you. Beautiful job! I love how you did the chevrons. Utilizing the nail shield then going with the flow. Definitely gives it a free-hand feel.
