China Glaze Desert Escape Collection Summer 2015 Swatch Review

(These polishes were purchased by me)

Hey People!

New China Glaze Alert! Don’t you wish you really would get alerts for new collections? Haha Today I have swatches of the China Glaze Desert Escape 6 piece Collection for Summer 2015. I thought the Electric Nights Collection was Summer 2015? Not complaining, I’ll always take more polish lol And spoiler alert, I’m really digging these colors. I definitely get a Southwest/Arizona vibe from these colors. At first I thought, well these aren’t super desert-y but then I realized “Desert Escape” probably means like resort/vacation. Duh. And yea, these are polish colors I’d want to wear while vacationing in Arizona! Shall we look at pretty colors now? Ok, let’s do this.

Oooooo Aaaahhhh! Pretty Pretty. Now, I do admit these aren’t exactly unique colors but I don’t think that takes away from how great they look. We have some nice formulas and some that are ok. But for a couple of these I may have had a margarita or 2 while swatching soooooo it could be user error!

First up is ‘Don’t Mesa With My Heart,’ a bubblegum pink crème with a blue undertone. I really liked the thickness of this polish, it’s not thin by not thick just kind of that in between I like and it applied very easily. I used 3 coats here but I think most people could get away with 2 but since my nail beds have a blue tone to them (thanks poor circulation!) I needed 3. With most pale pinks and reds I need 3 coats to cover visible nail line.

Next is ‘Don’t Desert Me,’ a shimmering fuchsia. I wasn’t that excited about this one in the bottle, sure it’s pretty but ya know, not unique. But once on I changed my mind! It really glows on the nail and comes alive. Formula wise it went on very easily and covered nicely with 1 coat but I added a second to even things out. The formula does have a sort of gel-like formula? Not gel polish, but gel as in consistency and I think that was because it is really full of shimmer but it didn’t stop it from self-leveling. I love this one!

This jelly warm tomato red is ‘The Heat is On.’ In person I’d say it definitely looks like a tomato! This has a very easy to apply formula and is buildable. At 2 coats it was too sheer for my tastes so I added a third coat and you can still see a little visible nail line, but like I mentioned above my nail line tends to be very visible with reds and pinks. I didn’t care for this at first due to the visible nail line but it grew on me.

Next is ‘What’s She Dune?’ First, I love the name lol And second, this is a gorgeous neutral beige creme! I always always love nudes so I knew I’d like this one. This is one of the polishes that I had a couple margaritas before swatching hahaha So take that into consideration while reading my review of it. Here I used 2 coats and you can see a little uneven texture on a couple fingers, a third would have leveled it out. I’m not sure if this was user error or not! If you love nudes and neutrals then you’ll like this one.

China Gaze Desert Escape Meet Me In The Mirage Swatch Review

Ohhh shiny! This rose gold is ‘Meet Me In The Mirage.’ This is one of those metallics that is just all ultra fine shimmer, when looking up close you can pick out the silver and pink shimmers but when looking at it from a normal distance it all blends together into a beautiful rose gold color. I find these type of polishes to be very opaque and can be 1-coaters and this one could be if you applied carefully but I did 2 for good measure. This is such a great color for Summer, love it!
China Gaze Desert Escape Rain Dance The Night Away Swatch Review

China Gaze Desert Escape Rain Dance The Night Away Swatch ReviewThe last polish from the Desert Escape Collection is ‘Rain Dance The Night Away.’ I don’t what to call this it’s blue but maybe turquoise and has some green? Yea, let’s go with that because it can change a little depending on lighting. This is the other polish that I swatched while enjoying margaritas haha SO I used 2 coats here and you can see a little unevenness, was it me or the formula? I won’t know until I used it again lol But it did apply nicely so I’m suspecting it was me!

Overall I’m gonna give The Desert Escape Collection from China Glaze a good thumbs up. The colors are pretty and for the most part apply nicely if you haven’t been enjoying adult beverages. What do you think? Will you be picking any of these up?

Thanks for stopping by!

  10. I'm obsessed with all of these and let out a HUGE sigh when you said they were all great too. SO many times I will fall in love with a ChG collection and hear that the formula is majorly poopy. 'Don't Desert Me' has to be my favorite!! That shimmer just kills me!! I will DEFINITELY be picking up this whole collection!!! Gorgeous swatches, you are my new nail crush, haha!
